what do we mean by non-trade investments,pls support with example?

Certain investments made by the firm or company not related to their trade.
For eg. If bhart petroleum invests in reliance petroleum it is called as trade investments.
If the same company invests in State Bank of India where they do not have any banking relationship with them then it will be termed as non trade investments.
For eg. If bhart petroleum invests in reliance petroleum it is called as trade investments.
