How many months can a registered dealer submit nil return?

There is no Limit. You can submit Nil Return as long as there is no inward or outward supply under GST to report. Your GST number will not be liable for cancellation since you are filing returns continuously.
However in case you have not filed any return for a contineous period of 6 months, your registration may get cancelled in that case.
