When a Civil Contractor has to register in service tax ?

how much tender value is required to register ?

how to calculate service value if contract is with material ?

10 November 2015 As a civil contractor you might be doing original works or maintenance and repairs. If it is original works then 40% is considered services otherwise 70% is considered service. Hence once this reaches 9 Lakhs you need to obtain registration in 30 days.

10 November 2015 how much service tax should be paid by civil contractor if tender is for new road. do govt. will have to deduct 5.60% from contractor or not ?

if govt. office deduct service how we can take is as ?

10 November 2015 if the Govt deducts it from your bill, you can consider the same while paying your service tax liability. (In service tax language, it is called as availing credit)

11 November 2015 Praveen has already given the % to be considered for the contract. The rate is 14.5 % w.e.f. 15/11/2015
