19 November 2012 Kindly let me know how much is registration charges for compulsory registration under Mvat. Is Rs.25,000 security deposit applicable for compulsory registration also?Thanks in advance

20 November 2012 There is two options for registration.

first is voluntry registration - If you want to get voluntry registration then you have to deposite 25000 as security deposite + Registration fees 5000.

Second is general: you have to deposite Registration fees 5000+ Deposite 500.

04 December 2012 Reply of Mr Hemant Kumar needs correction as - Under MVAT Act, for Application for registration including voluntary registration under section 16, fees payable is only Rs. 500/- but not Rs. 5000/- (Rule 73 of MVAT Rule).
For Voluntary Registration amount of Rs. 25000/- is to be deposited as security deposit.
