If the company is in tally from last year say 2011-12, then opening balane as on 01/04/2012 can NOT be changed. Pass a journal entry as on 01/04/2012, to that effect on 01/04/2012.

Go to Accounts Info > Ledgers > Alter
Select Profit & Loss Account. Change the balance.
