26 April 2010 dear sir,

can a minor appointed as director in a private company?
what would be your answer if there is a public co.?

26 April 2010 Hithherto minor could have become director of a private limited company. However in the new regime of DIN, minor may not be able to become a Director.

Minor cannot become a director in a public limited company as the director of a public limited company needs to give his consent to become a director and a minor cannot sign a document by himself.

26 April 2010 Appointment of minor as a director is not possible as the post of director involve contractual liability and minor is incapable of contract.
