08 March 2010 I want to know what is the maximum limit allowed as medical allowance and I have incureed Rs.30000/- for Knee Operation expenses of my mother I want to know can I claim that amount U/s 80 DDB and What are the Specified Disease or Ailment as prescribed by the board.

08 March 2010 Medical allowance is fully taxable.For claiming Sec.80DDB Maximum deduction Rs.40000/- specified diseases please see Rule 11DD

08 March 2010 medical allowance is fully taxable.
for you exp on operation of mother you can get full 30000/- deduction. it is 40000/- or exp whichever is less. But for senior citizen max limit is 60000/-
