16 February 2013 Hii, Can an employee claim both HRA and Loss from let out house property (Intt. on HL) from his employer, if his working location and let out house is in same town but he is residing in rented house in different town.

Please clarify, Thanks.

27 February 2013 Yes, he can claim both HRA and loss from house property given that his rental income is getting taxed under Income from house property.

In practical scenario, person is not able to occupy said property as it does not accomplish assessee’s requirements and he has to stay in a rented house.

I request other members for their opinion.
