11 March 2012 No, Portfolio management is business of investing in Shares on behalf of clients, while NBFC invest as per his own terms/

31 March 2012 Portfolio management business is done by the authorised companies and they take deposit from the clients and purchase and sales of shares as the portfolio mangers deem fit and proper without any liability on their head. There are many companies like Kotak, ICICI but generally in portfolio manged by these companies in my knowledge no one has made any profit. The income generated is business income of the investor.
