I m really confused about who all are included in lineal ascendands and descendants? Are maternal grand parents included in it?

Lineal ascendants are the relatives are parants or grand parants who ascend in the family tree. Similarly descendants are those who are the younger one like childern, grand childerns etc.

Maternal Grand Parents can be said as your Lineal ascendants.
