05 February 2015 Hello,

One of clients got an order to prepare shirts from a company, the raw material is also provided by the job-giving company.

I want to know if my client is liable to get registered with service tax???

05 February 2015 If it is a job work for which excise duty is paid by the job giving company no service tax payable. If excise duty not paid service tax payable if total job work in a year exceeds 10 lakhs and registration is required when it exceeds 9 lakhs.

05 February 2015 as per negative list, processing of goods amounting to manufacture of production is exempt from service tax. But it should be leviable to excise duty even if it is at nil rate.

05 February 2015 in job work also there is an exemption for textile processing

05 February 2015 Under s.no.30 of notification no 25/2012 ST dated 20.6.2012. It is exempt.
