IT returns for fresh job holders

24 July 2026 Hello Sir/Ma'am
Good Morning
It's very nice to see how this forum helps us to understand various sectors and services.
My daughter has been associated with a small firm for the last one year.
Her salary package is anyhow not in income tax net ie., not taxable.
Her employer also not deducted any TDS during last FY ie., 2025-26.
But, a small portion of FD interest is reflected in AIS / TIS as 'Income from other sources'
The 26AS is completely blank ie., with No figures.
Now, please advise me whether she needs to file ITR (1) (even a NIL return) in this scenario.
She hasn't filed any IT returns so far.

24 July 2026 Filing Requirement: Not legally mandatory if total income (salary plus FD interest) stays below the basic exemption limit and none of the specific mandatory filing triggers apply. However, filing a voluntary return is advisable to reconcile AIS/TIS records.

Recommended Form: ITR-1 (Sahaj).
