02 October 2013 SIR, I AM WORKING IN A PRIVATE CO. MY BASIC SALARY IS RS.7150/-PM & MONTHLY HRA IS RS.8900/- I AM STAYING WITH MY FATHER WHO IS RETIRED & HAS NO SOURCE OF INCOME. I AM PAYING HIM RS.5000/- TOWARDS MONTHLY HOUSE RENT. PLEASE GUIDE ME WHETHER I AM ELIGIBLI TO CLAIM REBATE UNSER SEC 10(13) . IF YES HOW MUCH CAN I GET REBATE FROM MY EMPLOYER. I AM STAYING AT DOMBIVLI-MUMBAI.PLEASE POST YOUR EXPERT ADVISE AT THE EARLIEST.

10 November 2013 Yes. you can claim the HRA exemption maximum of 50% of Basic salary but subject to calculation as per sec.10(13A)

Your father has to show the rental income and has to issue the rental receipt to you for the proof of rent
