Is rent agreement mandatory for hra (1,00,000)

Hi,
I have gone through https://www.caclubindia.com/experts/is-rent-agreement-is-mandatory-for-hra-exemption-1119349.asp which was very helpful.
Could you please provide me latest details of Circular number. My current organization is asking for Rent agreement + Rent Receipts. I have provided rent receipts but dont have rent agreement.
Or is there any alternative for the same?

For HRA you have to follow 10(13A) for that you need only Receipts. Rent agreement is not mandatory.

For HRA you have to provide rent receipt and PAN number of owner if you pay more than 100000/-pa

Rent agreement not mandatory. Pl refer last sentence in page 25 (clause 5.3.9) of CBDT Circular 20/2015 dated 2.12.2015.

No, rent receipts are sufficient. rent agreement not required for HRA claims as pet CBDT CIRCULAR NO.20/2015 DT 2 December, 2015.
