I am working in a Pvt. Ltd. organization. In every financial year every employee needs to submit all investment proofs (beneficial for tax exemption) to the accounts department. The time period to submit the docs is from 1st Feb. to 15th Feb. This year, (Financial Year 2011-2012) I was sick, and couldn't submit the docs. And that's why my employer had deducted extra tax, which is also reflected in my Form 16. Now, Is there any way to get the extra tax paid by me from the Government? If I can get it through Income Tax Return, while filing IT return, do I need to attach the investment proofs along with the form? If yes, then how can I do that online?

No you need not attach the proofs. You can claim the refund. (Please file it online. The refunds are processed quicker than the manual ones)
