Can a Co-operative society invest in Equity market or mutual funds. If yes then what are the norms or guidelines to be followed by them for doing so?

A co-operative society can not invest in Equity market or in mutual fund without the prior permission of District Registrar as per Section No. 71 of Co Operative Societies Act, 1961.
