Invalid return u/s 139(9)

12 January 2017 One of my friend filled Return by selecting Presumptive Basis of Income and again he wrongly revised the return ITR 4 for which he has received notice us 139 (9) as defective return and he did not reply for the same, subsequently that return status is showing as an Invalid Return.

Can he file revised return again in this case under Presumptive Basis of Income?
