Invalid PAN as per ACES portal.

15 August 2010 Dear Friends / Experts,

Mr. X is applying for service tax online through ACES.

X has got PAN Card.

While filling the PAN details in Form ST-1 online, he gets error message that PAN IS INVALID.

Based on the error message, I verified through NSDL e-payment (as our IT server is not working), X's name is not matching with the name as appearing in PAN.

Query

How do I submit Form ST-1 onine for X ?

X wants to first complete the compliance of Service Tax Registration and thereafter, file the PAN application for correction.

I may request all concerned to share their real experiences on the such situation.

15 August 2010 If your client is in hurry to get service tax registration, application should be proceeded with name as mentioned on PAN. afterwards you may approach the service tax department, while submitting the hard copies, with a representation and PAN correction application proof.

hopefully service tax deptt will issue the certificate in correct name although your online application was incorrect.
