Providing new interior works contract to an existing structure, in a building, what is the abatement available, whether it is 60 % or 40%, kindly clarify.

You may evaluate if the works is in the nature of original works or repairs. For this purpose, you may also consider the treatment adopted in books - capitalised or charged off as revenue. In my view, this may be classified as original works if treated as capex in books and service tax applicable accordingly.

It will not be considered as original work hence only 30% abatement is available.
