We are thinking to start a publishing house. Could you suggest me what different types of registration i suppose to be taken in India.

Dear Vipin,
the normal registration shall apply to the publishing house such as incorporation registrations (will depend on the form of incorporation you do - company or partnership or llp), PAN, TAN, sales tax etc. Plus, depending upon location : shops and establishment registration. Depending upon the size of work force: ESI and PF. Depending on the territories served: Excise etc.
Addition to this, you also need to have legal consultant who can make sure you sign only well drafted agreements with writers for publications.

ISSN or ISBN registrations, if i am not wrong, pertains to specific books or journal etc and can be obtained for any book or journal in process or already printed by you.
I understand that obtaining the same is beneficial as it helps in unique identification of books.
