18 May 2009 My client is a doctor. He was in Singapur ship for 190 days during the previous year. Let me know whether he was Non-resident during the previous year?

18 May 2009 W.e.f 1/4/1990 crew members are treated as 'non resident' in India if they are on board with ship outside the territorial waters of India for 182 days or more during any year.

Citation:- Circular no 586 dt. 28/11/1990 reported in 186 ITR (St) 167.
