In case of work contract , how to pay sales tax ?

13 February 2013 Dear Sir ,

We are a service provider firm in Lucknow.
We have got a contract by a corporate body .
Till now , we used to bill service tax invoices and sales tax invoices separately .

Now , we have to pay ser tax on 40% of the contract value ...

But , what is the criteria of sales tax in this issue .

Also , which invoice no is to be maintained for such contract .

Kindly explain .

it differ in state wise.

15 February 2013 Thanks for your concern .

it means that ser tax will be 4.994 % on gross value .

And sales tax ( UP ) will be 2 % on gross value .

Have i got it right ??

Also , it means that the invoice no can be of sales invoice sequence or ser tax invooice sequence .

4% TDS (WCT) applicable in UP for work contract service.

15 February 2013 We are a Tubewell drilling company .

Earlier , we just executed the job work and the client used to give the material .

Now , they have made a contract of Job and Material .

What will be the liability of sales tax ?

15 February 2013 i think in this case party deduct TDS (WCT) you can raise a normal bill,
