22 December 2009 An assessee is residing in his mother's house & paying rent. The rent agreement is entered between them. The assessee is simultenously receiving HRA from the employer. Can the said assessee claim exemption u/s 10(13A) against HRA while computing the Income from Salary?

23 December 2009 Can anyone give me the calculation for exemption u/s 10(13A) with following details for a month:

Basic Salary Rs. 15836
House Rent Allowance Rs. 7918
Conveyance Allowance Rs. 800
Flat Allowance Rs. 10285
Retro : Shift Allowance Rs. 2775

The employee is working in a Pvt. Ltd. co.
House rent paid by the employee is Rs. 8000 p.m.
