12 March 2014 Dear sir is it mandatory to register leave and license agreement by paying stamp duty for claiming hra exemption whn rent paid is Rs 25000 ? is it enough if i submit notarised copy of agreement to my employer?

12 March 2014 it is not necessary for income tax purposes. but stamp duty regulations need to be complied with. also if rent is in excess of Rs 1 lakh per year, you need to submit PAN details of the landlord to your employer
