How to get form 16 if employer is out of station?

My friend is from Army and his employer is from Pune. Now he is in Lucknow doesn't have Form 16 in hand. I want to know is there any online option from where he can get form 16????

Dear Haider,
If the TDS return has been filed, then the Form 16 can be downloaded by the employer from TRACES website with / without digital signature. The downloaded form 16 can then be sent via mail.

Gaurav Vora sir, TDS return was filled on the above deductee since 2011 on wards. I have only TAN no. but its responsibility of Deductor to download TDS return. I am unable to login into traces. Any other option is available ????

Dear Haider,
If the TDS returns are filed, then you can get the credit of the same in Form 26AS which you can download after logging in to Income Tax Efiling site.

Gaurav Sir,I have 26AS of all years, actually my friend has applied for personal loans where form 16 is required by Bank. I want to know if ITR of last 2 years are given in place of Form 16. would it be eligible for Locn or 26as would works in place of form 16.

ITR of last 2 years & Form 26AS are enough proof of income that can be submitted to the Bank for loans. Your friend can go ahead with the application with these two documents with other basic documenst. If the Bank still persists for Form 16, than the same can be asked for from the employer. He can also courier the same.
