Hospital bill

30 August 2011 Dear Sir,

One of our employees badly injured during accident on the road and company has paid interm hospital bill of Rs.452368/-. Still employees in ICU in hospital. He is not cover with ESIC.

Pls advise us Hospital expenses allowable to company or not.

30 August 2011 yes. it is allowable expenses under Income tax. also need to be calculated employee perquisite

31 August 2011 Proviso to Sec. 17(2)): Value of medical treatment in any hospital maintained by the Government or any local authority or approved by the Chief Commissioner of Income-tax. Besides, any sum paid by the employer towards medical reimbursement other than as discussed above is exempt
upto Rs.15,000/-.
