Home loan for extention

SIR, i had taken a home loan in 2005 of rs.5 lacs jointly with my spouse and paid all the amount in this month. Now i am willing to construct first floor after taking home loan for extension of house. Can i claim income tax benefit under section 24 for interest upto rs.150000?

yes you can do so...even 80c deduction on principal repayment shall be allowed.
