Transferring your CA articleship can be a challenging process, especially when dealing with delays and administrative issues. Here’s a step-by-step guide on how to handle your situation:
### **1. Immediate Actions:**
1. **Contact Your Institute:** - Reach out to the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) through their regional office or directly through their official helpline or email. Explain your situation, including the delay in receiving your registration letter and the fact that you left the firm within the stipulated period.
2. **Firm Confirmation:** - Request a letter or a confirmation from the firm where you were initially registered, stating your departure date. This will be helpful as proof of your tenure with the firm.
3. **Check Online Portal:** - Keep checking the ICAI online portal for updates on your registration status. Sometimes, it might take a little while for the system to update.
### **2. Transfer Procedure Without Registration Letter:**
1. **Application for Transfer:** - Fill out the transfer application form as per the ICAI guidelines. If you don’t have your registration letter yet, explain the situation in the application and attach the supporting documents (like your firm’s letter).
2. **Documentation:** - Ensure you have all the necessary documents: - A letter from the previous firm confirming your departure. - Proof of your previous articleship tenure. - Any communication you had with the firm and ICAI about your registration.
3. **Submit the Application:** - Submit the transfer application form to the regional office of ICAI. Attach all relevant documents, including the letter from the previous firm.
4. **Follow Up:** - After submission, follow up regularly with ICAI to ensure that your transfer request is being processed.
### **3. Addressing Leave Count:**
- **Leave Adjustment:** - Since you left the firm on 10th April and joined a new firm, make sure to keep a record of your leave days. ICAI usually allows a specific number of leave days, and these should be accounted for accurately in your transfer application.
### **4. New Firm Registration:**
1. **Choose a New Firm:** - Once your transfer is approved, find a new firm where you would like to continue your articleship.
2. **New Registration:** - You will need to submit a new registration form with your new firm. Ensure that the new firm is registered with ICAI and that you comply with all the documentation requirements.
### **5. Additional Tips:**
- **Document Everything:** - Keep copies of all communications, application forms, and receipts related to your transfer process.
- **Seek Guidance:** - If you are unsure about the process, consider seeking guidance from fellow students, seniors, or your local ICAI branch.
**In Summary:** Even if your registration letter has not arrived, you can still proceed with the transfer by providing all relevant documents and explaining your situation to ICAI. Follow the official procedures and keep in regular contact with ICAI for updates.
