HARD CASH GIFT

This query is : Resolved

Quick Summary
In India, gifts received from close relatives like a spouse or son are generally tax-exempt under the Income Tax Act. However, receiving cash gifts of ₹2 lakh or more is restricted by Section 269ST, which prohibits such transactions. While these gifts are not taxable, it's advisable to maintain proper documentation, such as a gift deed, for transparency and to avoid potential issues.
