I logged in to Income Tax site on 2.8.2013 to file a Return for my client.. Found the password to be changed.. I then reset the password and went ahead to upload the Return. I discovered an Original Return for A.Y 2013-14 already uploaded on 14.6.2013 and the data filled therein was all incorrect and deliberately huge income has been shown with self asst.tax being paid under incorrect CIN. By going through entire Return .. It transpires that someone deliberately uploaded this Return to create huge demand. Even the ITRV has been sent to CPC with false signature.. Under the circumstances, as per advice of CPC a revised Return has been filed and duly signed ITRV is being sent to CPC. My question is..What should be done in this situation to 1) find the culprit and get him punished.. 2) How Income tax department will treat the Original Return.. Can it have any adverse reaction.. 3) has anyone faced similar situation.? This type of false uploading of Returns with bogus data can be a big menance for tax professionals and Dept.. How to tackle it..

One of my client asked me to file return when i checked return was filed already,,i asked my assesse what is this--he said i dont know,
i have traked with IP address from where return filed and said to assesse he said "yes..i have given password to my friend ,,sorry ganesh my friend might have filed my return"
so better tract the IP address and inform to assesse and confirm that it is fraudlent activity

The client also fails to understand who has done this.. By tracking ip address, we could only get the name of service provider through which it was uploaded i.e it was uploaded using reliance 3g dongle... But name of the person could not be detected...
