10 July 2017 My dad is Civil and furniture contractor, his turnover is less than 20 lakh, as per GST act he is not required to get registered under GST.
However his Architect from whom he gets contract is forcing him to get registered under GST otherwise he wont make a payment. He is not registered under VAT or Service tax law.
But if he apply for GSTIN under his PAN whether he will get notice from the tax department because he was not registered under previous laws.

10 July 2017 No such notice will be issued register under GST no problem. You have to charge GST and collect and pay to govt and file monthly return after registration.
