28 September 2013 hi as we are all aware that an article has to complete his GMCS-I before first year of his articleship if registered on or after May 2012. MY query is what is the consequence of not completing it on time due to non-availablity of seats etc ? Will the final attempt be delayed because of not completing the GMCS within the stipulated time? is the time of year of one year deadline to do GMCS-I extended to one and half year?

Yes, as per new GMCS scheme, if you have not completed your GMCS in time, then their may be possibility that your final exam will extend accordingly.

29 September 2013 ICAI may extend your GMCS-1 period for the completion, or may fine some charges,

Due to full batches its hard to get seats available for GMCS,

However, its better to follow the guidelines laid by the ICAI..
