Dear Experts,
Is it mandatory to purchase stamp & do franking from the place of articleship or it is ok if you are purchasing & do franking from place other than your articleship.

Franking or purchasing of stamp paper can be done from:
1. Where the Firm of principal is registered, or
2. Where the article ship is executed, or
3. where the article resides.

In my case i am going to join articlship in Gujrat & my residence is in M.P.,then can i purchase stamp & franking it in M.P.or it is only done from Gujrat where the firm of principal is registered & articleship will be executed.

The papers for registration should be sent so as to reach within 30 days from the date of commencement of training at the following places :
(If the employer chartered accountant is practising in Western India Region) to the Additional Director of Studies at “ICAI Bhawan”, 27, Cuffe Parade, Colaba, Mumbai – 400 005.
(If the employer chartered accountant is practising in Southern India Region) to the Deputy Secretary at “lCAl Bhawan”, 122, Mahatma Gandhi Road, Post Box No. 3314, Nungambakkam, Chennai – 600 034.

Franking has to be done in the same state where u reg for articleship.
