Am I necessary to file income tax return if I am having only interest income above basic income liable to pay tax i. e 2 lacs?

yes it is required. as long as the income is above taxable limit, you need to file the return.

yes ,As per section 139 any assesse who is having income more than basic exemption limit before deducting chapter VIA deductions mandatorily required to file return of income

since income exceeds the basic slab you need to file return of income.
