26 September 2012 I wanted to file my IT return in ITR -IV online for the first time I went to the site and registered myself and started making entry in the columns but though the form filling went easy I was stuck in between because of soft ware requirement like" enable macro, and convert protected worksheet into unprotected sheet. First I need guidance for above. Secondly I want to know why such complications. Even some computer experts do not know such things How the Dept expects all assessees should be computer experts

27 September 2012 Sir, How to enable the macros guidelines will be available at the site www.incometaxindiaefiling.gov.in where you downloaded the ITR form. Please follow such instructions and then enable the macros then your ITR will be work.

Such complications required for the purpose of security reason and compute and work such ready made work sheet properly to active all the formulas and instructions in such ITR excel form.

Note: Process of enabling of macros depending on the version of MS-Office using by you so in the guidelines how to enable macros available version wise.
Please follow the instruction.

Note: Hint for you to confirm the macros enabled is while you opened such ITR form it automatically displays some instructions and noticing dailouge boxes like form related assessment year, don't do or writing cells etc..... and the battons given like valid,next,previous, generate, compute etc... also active and allows to click on them. please check and write if any problem or doubt.

27 September 2012 Sir, However i here with producing How to enabling Macros.

1) if you are using latest version of Excel then follow the following instructions.

Open a new excel work sheet and then click the home button available at the above corner of the left side of the window and then click excel options -> Trust Center -> Trust Center Settings -> Macro Settings at this select "Enable all macros (not recommended; potentially dangerous code can run) and then press ok Now the macros enabled and then close such excel sheet and now open your ITR return form and proceed to fill and generate.

2) In case you using older version of excel i.e 2003 or its below version then following instructions.

Tools -> Macros -> security and select low/medium and then click ok and close such excel sheet and then open your ITR.

Note: Above process is required only one time for one PC not required every time in case you re-installed your MS- excel then required to follow the above process because software at default pick macro as disabled.
