I filed GSTR3b and paid the taxes due. But when I tried to file GSTR1 for May 2018 I get the message Error- you cannot submit this return for this period The las date for filing the same is mentioned as 10th June 2018

I think You are wrongly select May month instead of April...!!
or
If You are correctly select want file May month return on yesterday then no way for filing without closing of the month. You can file Today onwards for May return...

Today i.e on 1st June I selected GSTR1 for MAY 2018 for which I got the following error message Error! You cannot Submit GSTR1 for this Return Period
