myself Rohit Taneja from gurgaon, persuing CA PCc attempt awaited in Nov-09.
My question is - Should an article assistant who normally gets a stipend of less than Rs. 2000/- p.m file his ITR or not?

If the articled assistant have no income other than stipend he/she need not file income tax return.

No he is not required to file If he gets stipend (only less than Rs.2000)

Not mandatory but you can if you want to.

taxable income limit is 1,50,000/- per year and you are earning only 2,000/- per month it means your anual income is 24,000/ which is not taxable, so for it is not mandatory to file income tax return but if you want you can file n showing nil tax.
