Family pension arrears

my mother has received her family pension arrears for the period from 21.04.2010 to 30.4.16 for rs 3.2 lacs in the FYI 2016-17;AY 2017-18. She has filed her returns with refund for all these years so far.
my query is she eligible for relief under sec 89 or any other appropriate section of IT so that her tax incidence is duly complied with.
please advice

how to calculate tax ? can I straight away deduct rs 3.2 lac from taxable income and pay her tax due
