Quick Summary
This discussion clarifies that Indian residents are prohibited by the FEMA Act, 1999 from purchasing lottery tickets outside India, even through foreign relatives. While transferring foreign receipts into an Indian bank account is generally permissible, the onus is on the individual to prove the legitimacy of the funds, especially concerning lottery winnings, as direct investment in foreign lotteries is restricted.
