16 June 2014
Dear Sir/Madam, I have been given one day extension for extra leave during my articleship tenure. My articleship was supposed to complete on 26th Feb 2014. But I mentioned it to be complete on 25th Feb 2014. Now as on today (16th June 2014)I have not completed the one day extension period. So I want to know the applicable forms to be filled in (107/ 102 and 103). Is it treated as break in service? Can it be completed under another principal? Waiting for earliest reply. Thanking you in advance.

In the context of articleship under the Chartered Accountancy program in India, if you have been granted a one-day extension beyond the originally stipulated completion date, here are the relevant considerations:
### Forms to be Filled:
1. **Form 107**: This form is used for registering the commencement of articleship.
2. **Form 102**: This form is used for registering the articleship deed. It includes details such as the start and end dates of articleship.
3. **Form 103**: This form is used for registering the termination of articleship. It includes details of the completion date and other relevant information.
### Specifics to Consider:
- **Extension**: Since you have been granted a one-day extension, it's essential to ensure that this extension is properly documented and communicated to the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI). Typically, this would involve informing your principal and updating the articleship records.
- **Completion Date**: Your articleship completion date was initially set for 25th February 2014. With the one-day extension, it would mean your new completion date is 26th February 2014.
- **Procedure**: You need to fill out Form 103 to officially register the termination of articleship. This form should reflect the correct completion date, which in your case is 26th February 2014.
- **Break in Service**: A one-day extension is not generally treated as a break in service, especially if it is granted officially by the principal and is within a reasonable timeframe.
- **Changing Principal**: If you are considering completing the remaining one day of articleship under another principal, you would need to follow the procedure for transfer of articleship. This involves obtaining consent from both the existing and new principals, along with approval from the ICAI.
### Steps to Take:
1. **Inform Principal**: Inform your current principal about the extension and ensure they update their records accordingly.
2. **Fill Form 103**: Fill out Form 103 with the correct completion date (26th February 2014) and submit it to your principal for verification.
3. **Submit to ICAI**: Once verified by your principal, submit Form 103 to the ICAI along with any other required documents (such as the articleship completion certificate).
4. **Transfer, if applicable**: If you intend to complete the remaining day under another principal, initiate the process for transfer of articleship as per ICAI guidelines.
### Conclusion:
Ensure all forms are filled accurately and submitted promptly to the relevant authorities. The one-day extension should not cause significant complications, provided it is duly documented and communicated. If you have any doubts or specific queries, it's advisable to consult with your principal or an advisor at your local ICAI office for guidance tailored to your situation.
