our company is going to manufacture PET FLAKES from PET BOTTLES. Please let me know whether manufacturing of PET FLAKE is liable to excise or not

15 October 2011 manufacture of PET FLAKES liable to excise....if Amount of excisable goods mean "pet flakes" cross the limit of RS. 4 crore ..or liable to registration if cross the limit of 1.50 crore

24 October 2011 If the process results in a product which is distinct, different from the pet bottles as understood in trade, it would amount to manufacture.
As mentioned SSI exemption would be availableif within limits.
