19 July 2015 IMPORTANT POST By: Sharvan Kumar Email:Sharvankumar100327@gmail.com Contact : 9891987513 New delhi My Conversation with AIR 1 Rahul Aggarwal As you all know that the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India has declared the CA final result for May ?15 examination on 16thJuly. .RahulAggarwal from Secundrabad & Shelly Chaudhary from Delhi topped one of the toughest exam achieving 75.75% marks. Fortunately today, I had a Telephonic Communication withRahulAggarwal and discussed all those questions which a CA final student would ask definitely from an All India Rank 1. I am presenting that discussion in the form of an interview for the interest of reader. . So here is a detailed discussion with him. Read till last. I hope you will definitely get answers for many of your queries and will be beneficial to all of you. Sharvan: Hi Rahul, First of all congratulations to you and your family for achieving such a great success in one of the toughest course of India. Rahul: Thank you, thank you so much. Sharvan: In spite of wasting so much of your time, I want to discuss only relevant things which will benefit to the students pursuing their article ship, preparing for their CA finals and have their attempt due in the upcoming period .Rahul: Yes, you are right. Sharvan: Rahul, from where you pursued your article ship? Rahul: I completed my article ship from Ernst& young (E&Y), Hyderabad. Sharvan: What exposure you had in your article ship? Rahul: I was employed in Assurance (Statutory Audit) Department. I had the exposure for statutory audit of various companies during my article ship. Sharvan: How much your practical exposure during training helps you in clearing your final exams? Rahul: It helps me a lot. Whenever I studied for finals, I got supported it with the practical learning during the article ship. Sharvan: When you started your studies for CA Final? Rahul: Actually it is a regular course. There is no prescribed time to start this course. All this is a continuous process during the period of Article ship. Sharvan: For how much period you got leave from your firm for final studies? Rahul: For 3.5 months, I got regular leave for studies before my finals. Sharvan: Have you taken coaching for any subject or self-prepared the subjects? Rahul: I took coaching for all the subjects from the local faculties of my town. Sharvan: How you managed to get time for coaching along with the office? It seems quite difficult Rahul: I started my classes 2 years back from my final attempt and I planned everything accordingly. Yes it seems quite difficult but if you plan everything accordingly with office and classes then it becomes easy to manage the things. Sharvan: So, do you think that student should take all the classes or should they do self-study. What you personally suggest? Rahul: According to me, every student has its own skills, talent and capabilities. If he believes that he can grasp the thing by self-studying, then he can opt for self-study and there are some students who need classes to start a subject, so they can opt for coaching. Sharvan: So, You find yourself as a person who need coaching? Rahul: Actually what I believes that teachers have a lot of experience in the subjects, they had a lot of research on that subject, they know what topics are important & what are not. How the questions are framed and what is the exam pattern. So all these things help in one way or the other. Sharvan: What you suggest the students to do self-study or go for coaching? Rahul: Coaching makes easy to start and develop interest in the subject comparative to the self-study. Sharvan: How much time you studied during a day? Rahul: In the leave period, I used to study for 15 hours a day. Sharvan: Which books you referred for studying? Rahul: For Direct tax, I refereed Vinod Gupta sir book and for indirect taxation, I referred Banga sir Book. For rest of the subjects, I studied from ICAI study material and practice manual. Sharvan: So didn?t you studied the books of the faculty from whom you took coaching? Rahul: The books provided by the faculty contains a combination of the questions from study material and practice manual. So this is one and the same thing. Sharvan: How you managed to study those subjects in which you don?t have any practical exposure because generally the students don?t get practical exposure in everything during their article ship period. Rahul: Yes, this is true. Likewise, I don?t have any practical exposure in taxation. In that case I need to put extra effort on that subject compare to the subjects in which I have practical exposure. You can also take the help of those friends or members who are expert in that field. Sharvan: What was your technique to cover the subject? Do you preferred to study subject one by one or to take the three or four subjects at a time? Rahul: I used to cover one subject in a week and then move on to the other subject week by week. Sharvan: What is your future plan now? Do you want to do job or start your own practice? Rahul: I have not decided yet anything for my future. Sharvan: Well, It was nice talking to you. Congratulations once again and all the best for your future. Rahul: Thank you, Thank you so much,Sharvan. Discussion at Glance As I discussed with him, what I realise that a student should regularly study their subjects and be dedicated towards their goals. If you properly manage the classics and office, sincerely pursue your article ship then it?s not very difficult to pass the exams. Thanks everyone for reading my efforts. I hope that it will benefit you in some way or the other. All the Best for your Bright Future. SHARVAN KUMAR
