24 January 2011 can a power generating unit can claim credit of stawing excise duty (excise duty on coal )???

31 January 2011 Since the generation of electricity is not taxable under central excise the question for availing the credit doe snot arise.

13 May 2012 Stowing Excise duty is not duty under Excise act.
So it is eligible for CENVAT.
