16 April 2014 One of my client is pharma manufacturer.
The company produces ORS sachet and distribute the same to local distributor ,However local distributors do not want the burden of excise and the company pays exise but same can't be pass on to distributors
Can company claim any rebate/refund of excise under the rules or else what is the remendy?

18 April 2014 ORS sachet is a consumer products. Buyer can not take the benefit of excise duty. If goods is exported then rebate and refund will be applicable. SSI exemption available to all units upto 1.5cr and no need to pay excise duty. If manufacturer producing the goods other brand name then ssi exemption will not be available.
