This discussion addresses the eligibility for the Employees' Deposit Linked Insurance (EDLI) scheme for a factory worker who passed away after a long illness. Despite his last five months of EPF contributions being zero due to his sickness, he was considered an active member. The clarification needed for the EDLI claim rejection is to state that the employee was still in service at the time of death, with the lack of contributions solely due to his illness.

Clarify he is active member of PF and not left the service as on the date of death. He was ill during the last five months hence no PF contribution.
