05 April 2010 Hi,

we have filled etds return for Q3 of 08-09, but its status is as "rejected" now, we find out that some other company has filled their e-tds return by mistake on our TAN no., I have checked with NSDL as well our assessing officer, but they are not able to help me, can you please guide me with the solution.

Your case is unique. Best thing would be to go and meet your TDS Assessing Officer with proof & Details and also file a letter with the Circle.

05 April 2010 I have heard this for the First time because generally when we file the e-tds return with wrong TAN then its not accepted. I wonder how some one else has filed return on your TAN.
In my view you should contact to your AO.

I am not saying that it is wrong TAN no. its high co-incidence you can say..for example if a company is of Mumbai its TAN no. is MUMV12452G, but by mistake someone put it as MUMB12452G, it been a really high co-incidence, and his return get accepted (though it is not of use of his), is there any machanism our website where i can search for TAN nos??

its really bad experience when vendor is runnig thru a IT assesment and they r not able to locate their TAX credit on site. :)
