27 June 2011 can a director get sitting fees for attending board meeting through electronic mode i.e. Video Conference??

28 June 2011 Yes, according to me as he spends his valuable time to attend the Board Meeting even though it may be through electronic mode.

28 June 2011 The purpose of meeting is to discuss the agenda and to share the views.

In Video Conference the director can discharge his obligation very well by sharing views with other directors and suggest any thing better in the interest of the company.

It is possible that the director may be saving more for the company on a/c of traveling & conveyance expenses , hotel expenses etc. if he is in another city in connection with an important work of the company.

The company is being benefited
as if he is present and sitting fees to the director can be allowed.
