Can any body please let me know whether DIN 2 and DIN 3 are in existence and what is their significance?

yes they are in existence.
DIN 2 is the intimation of allotment of Directors Identification No. (DIN) to the Company by the Director.
DIN3
intimation of Directors Identification No.(DIN) by the Company to ROC.
DIN 2 is the intimation of allotment of Directors Identification No. (DIN) to the Company by the Director.

intimation of Directors Identification No.(DIN) by the Company to ROC.

But DIN-3 has only limited application now meaning thereby it need to be filed only in the case of those directors appointed up to June30,2007

In other words if you have appointed your director after 30.06.2007 then there is no need to follow the provisions regarding form DIN-3.
