What is the difference between TAX & DUTY?
If they are same , then why they are called differently?

Duty is tax is used narrow context levied on goods manufactured or imported or export of commodity it is basically levied by central government.
Tax is is mandatory or obligation payable to government on income, sales or services or wealth levied by state it central government which may be direct or indirect tax.
