Delay in refund

18 February 2016 Dear Sir,
I have observed in many cases that since Dec 2015, cpc is not processing return and issue refund as fast as they did in the month of july and aug 2015. What can be reason behind this?

18 February 2016 This may not be the absolutely correct answer, but from past experience, we know that in the last quarter of each financial year, there is pressure on the Government to bring down the deficit and meet certain targets. Hence the Revenue Departments encourage officers to stop issuing refunds and concentrate of recovery of dues, even if disputed, in the last quarter of the fiscal year. Hence the speed of refunds automatically slow down in the last three four months of the fiscal year.
